About Eureka
Though the exact year is unknown, Eureka's long history begins prior to 1895 in Binghamton, New York, where the company still resides today. Then known as the Eureka Tent & Awning Company, its first wares were canvas products--most notably, Conestoga wagon covers and horse blankets for nineteenth century American frontiersmen--as well as American flags, store awnings, and camping tents.

The company increased production of its custom canvas products locally throughout the 1930s and during the 1940 and even fabricated and erected the IBM "tent cities" just outside Binghamton. The seven acres of tents housed thousands of IBM salesmen during the company's annual stockholders meeting, which had since outgrown its previous locale. In the 1940s, with the advent of World War II and the increased demand for hospital ward tents, Eureka expanded operations and began shipping tents worldwide. Ultimately, upon the post-war return of the GIs and the resultant housing shortage, Eureka turned its attention to the home front during the 1950s by supplying awnings for the multitude of mobile homes that were purchased.

In 1960, Eureka's new and innovative Draw-Tite tent, with its practical, free standing external frame, was used in a Himalayan Expedition to Nepal by world renowned Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person documented to summit Mt. Everest only six years earlier. In 1963, Eureka made history during its own Mt. Everest ascent, with more than 60 of its tents sheltering participants from fierce 60+ mph winds and temperatures reaching below -20°F during the first all American Mt. Everest Expedition.

For backpackers and families, Eureka introduced its legendary Timberline tent in the 1970s. Truly the first StormShield design, this completely self-supporting and lightweight backpacking tent became one of the most popular tents the entire industry with sales reaching over 1 million by its ten year anniversary.

Eureka tents have also traveled as part of several historic expeditions, including the American Women's Himalayan Expedition to Annapurna I in 1978 and the first Mt. Everest ascents by a Canadian and American woman in 1986 and 1988. In recent history, tents specially designed and donated by Eureka sheltered Eric Simonson and his team on two historic research expeditions to Mount Everest, this time in a quest for truth regarding the 1924 attempted summit of early English explorers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine. The Marmot Trestles 15 Degree sleeping bag is an affordable, no-frills offering for three-season camping. The synthetic fill makes this mummy bag a good option even in damp or humid conditions. The Trestles 15 Degree is insulated with Marmot's proprietary Spirafil 120 synthetic fill. A unique blend of 3Denier and 1Denier polyester fibers, Spirafil 120 is warm and compressible. Unlike down fill, this breathable, fast-drying insulation is water-resistant and provides warmth even when wet. This is particularly important if you'll be backpacking or camping in wet weather or humid climates. Wave baffle construction eliminates cold spots and provides comfort. A contoured, ergonomic hood mirrors the design of Marmot's popular outerwear jackets, helps reduce heat loss and keeps your head warm and comfortable. A draft tube sewn behind the zipper keeps cold air from reaching the inside of the sleeping bag and zipper guards help to avoid irritating and damaging snags. An integrated stash pocket provides a convenient storage option for keys, contacts or other small items. Marmot's patented Trapezoid Foot Box is wider at the toes and narrower at the heels, providing a more natural fit and improving warmth and comfort. In addition to the full-length zipper, a second, shorter section of zipper on the opposite side of the sleeping bag allows the top of the bag to fold down, increasing ventilation on warm nights. The Trestles 15 Degree sleeping bag is available in three sizes. The Regular fits up to 6'0" and the Long fits up to 6'6". An X Wide size fits to 6'6" and provides additional girth in the shoulders, hips and foot box. The perfect sleeping bag (2009-12-30)
The bag is almost perfect. The long version might be excessive for me, but I can stuff clothes at the bottom, for next day's use. Haven't found any defects so far. The rating on the bag is spot on. Kept me warm in near freezing and below freezing temperatures. I've tested it close to 25F. However even at slightly higher temperatures (45-50F) the bag gets very warm. One way to avoid this 'excessive warmth' is to open the zipper and let some outside air in. From an ergonomics perspective, the zippers are a breeze to open and close and the bag is overall very comfortable. Finally, I think this bag is a great value for money.

great cheap down bag (2010-03-01)
this is the only down bag I have ever owned but so far it seems great. it has good loft and is more comfortable than my synthetic bag and packs to half the size of my 30 degree bag. In the picture it's blue and red but mine came blue and orange. The mummy hood is a rad design and it has 2 pockets on the inside. It is also ridiculously cheaper than comparable bags.
